Kathleen Duckett McCann
Ms. McCann is a dedicated, experienced, effective attorney focused on protecting and preserving her clients’ legal rights. She takes the time to understand each client’s unique situation in order to effectively advocate his or her legal position. She derives great satisfaction in helping her clients achieve the results to which they are entitled under the law.
Ms. McCann concentrates her legal practice in the following areas of law:
– Family Law – Wills, Trusts, and Estates – Adult Guardianship – Appeals Mediation Practice
Ms. McCann is also an experienced and effective mediator who is court-approved and frequently appointed by the Circuit Court for Queen Anne’s County as mediator in all types of family law cases.
Experience and Education
With over 20 years of experience, Ms. McCann has practiced law in Maryland State and Federal trial courts, Maryland appellate courts, the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings, the Social Security Administration, and the Maryland Workers Compensation Commission.
Ms. McCann earned her B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1979. She attended the University of Baltimore School of Law from 1993 until 1996 while raising her two children. She was a member of the University of Baltimore Law Review and the Heuisler Honor Society. Ms. McCann graduated from law school magna cum laude in December of 1996. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in June of 1997. |

After earning her law degree, Ms. McCann became associated with the Baltimore firm of Ober, Kaler, Grimes and Shriver. From there, she entered solo practice in Annapolis, Maryland. In 2001, she joined the Annapolis firm of Alan Legum, P.A. Ms. McCann moved from Annapolis to Queenstown, Maryland in 2002. In 2005, she opened her law office in Queenstown and has been in private practice there since that time.
Professional Affiliations
Ms. McCann is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association, and the Queen Anne’s County Bar Association. She subscribes to the Family Law, Estates & Trusts Law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections of the Maryland Bar Association. She is a former treasurer of the Queen Anne’s County Bar Association. She also serves on the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee of the Maryland Bar Association. In 2008, she received the Outstanding Attorney Award from Mid-Shore Counsel on Family Violence for her work advocating on behalf of victims of domestic violence. She is a member of the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center and the ASPCA.
In her spare time, Ms. McCann pursues her interests in photography, painting, and music.
